Storytime Theme: All the Classics

This week is all about the nursery rhymes, fables and fairy tales that we all memorized as kids.  With the HUGE selection of picture books for kids these days, often the old standards get put aside.  Needless to say, we had a lot of fun revisiting some old favorites!

Books:  (These have no author because these stories have been rewritten by numerous authors over the years.)

  • The Three Little Pigs
  • Little Red Riding Hood
  • The Lion and the Mouse
  • Goldilocks & the Three Bears
  • Rapunzel

Activity:

Fix Humpty Dumpty:  All of the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty back together, but we sure could!  Thank you Band-Aids!  This Pinterest inspired craft was so much fun for the kids.  They LOVE Band-Aids.

Interactive Itsy Bitsy Spider Poster:  Kids can practice moving the spider up and down the straw over and over as they sing the famous rhyme!  This is another idea I pulled off of Pinterest–I just love that site!

Songs/Fingerplays:
