This is a carry over storytime from last week. We reviewed the meaning of the heart and love and how love is not just for our family and friends, but our pets as well! We did polls to see which kids had pets and what kind, as well as talked about the way to care for our pets.
Family Pets by Lola M. Schafer (This is a non-fiction book that gives us real pictures of different types of pets (dog, cat, horse, rat, ferret, bunny, etc.)
Pet Shop Lullaby by Mary Ann Fraser (Hamster keeps everyone else up at night. So, the other animals take matters into their own paws. Do take a chance to talk about adopting instead of shopping)
I Took My Frog to the Library by Eric A. Kimmel (Kids think it is funny that these strange animals are brought into the library. It isn’t just a frog. *wink*)
The Birthday Pet by Ellen Javernick (A little boy thinks a turtle is the perfect pet despite how his family feels.)
Pet Collages: I designed the template above using Publisher. Then I pulled out a bunch of magazine pictures of different types of pets. Kids cut and glued the pictures into the heart to make a collage.
This lesson plan is free and you have my permission to use it all you want. I just ask that you give me a little love by crediting me on any blog or social media post. Thank you!
